Clear Light Holistic Midwifery

I had already worked as a nurse for over 20 yrs, specializing in Emergency and Ambulatory Care nursing, when I gave birth at home to my daughter in 1990. The care I received from my midwife, and current partner, Nancy Duncan CNM, changed by view of health and wellness. I experienced the “miracle” of homeopathy and a holistic approach to health and healing. I had a beautiful homebirth that I feel would have been a surgical birth if I was a client in the medical model of care. My own homebirth prompted me go on to complete studies at the New England School of Homeopathy and Ancient Art Institute of Midwifery. My apprenticeship was primarily with Nancy, other midwives in Maine, and at a birth center in Honduras. I began work as a primary midwife in 1994.

Our spacious home has several areas that are dedicated to the care of women and families during pregnancy and birth. Large sitting areas for consultation, a play area for children, an exam room for well-woman care, and office hours outside of normal business hours are offered. We are excited to offer the opportunity for people living outside our normal service area to have an out-of-hospital birth at our home Birth Suite in Old Town, close to the University of Maine.

We will bill your insurance company for reimbursement, but cannot accept MaineCare at this time.

When given time to play, I enjoy caring for rescued horses, large-scale landscaping, gardening, walking our Bullmastiff in the University woods, sea kayaking, knitting, and spending time with my daughter who is still living at home and majoring in Biochemistry at the University of Maine.
